The Mattatuck Museum established in 1877, exhibits American art and cultural history, with a focus on Naugatuck Valley and Connecticut artists. The Museum’s collections range from furniture and industrial artifacts to paintings and works on paper from the 18th century to today. Its award-winning interactive history exhibit, “Coming Home: Building Community in a Changing World” tells the story of industry in Connecticut and the people of the greater Waterbury region. In addition, galleries devoted to permanent collections, the Museum presents six changing exhibits each year. The Mattatuck Museum is known for egaging its community in an understanding of the past and providing vision and leadership for the future.
